Capital Campaign at a glance:

  • $100,000+ was invested in “finish-the-job” renovations ranging from signage, landscaping, kitchen improvements, installation of a new volleyball court and improved internet access.

  • The undergraduates invested $5K in new furnishings and member scholarships.

  • 75 alumni served as volunteers.

  • 283 brothers donated to the campaign, nearly 25% of the total brotherhood.

Long term debt incurred by an underfunded chapter house renovation threatened the continued viability of ΣAE at NDSU. Although a modern living facility significantly improved their campus profile, mortgage and interest costs prevented the brotherhood from completing necessary upgrades and exploring additional membership and alumni development activities. Further complicating the scenario was the complexity of using charitable funds to retire debt due to IRS regulations. Through a carefully constructed campaign strategy, volunteers were able to encourage 99% of donors to give direct to the fraternity. In total, 30% of brothers supported the effort raising $1,321,280 – surpassing their goal by $21,000. The fraternity hopes to burn their mortgage Fall 2019.
